James is a skilled and adept facilitator and executive coach. His style is to create a “container” in the workshop (virtual or F2F) through trust and psychological safety to help participants work through their emotions and blockers to recognise their strengths and build new habits and leadership values.
James has over 25 years working in business. Using real-life challenges James is adept at using psychometrics, experiential learning and action learning to help participants focusing on new habits as well as what will stop them changing. He is extremely focused on the aftercare processes especially “safe experiments” to reinforce habit change. He is currently working with:
-Novartis on a global leadership programme using Robert Kegan’s Immunity To Change
-BT on a global leadership programme focusing on leadership and growth mindset
-Team Coaching a senior leadership team
James has also worked with Apple, Google, Sky, Wellcome Sanger Institute, Morgan Stanley, Pentland Brands, Vodafone and Accenture. Over the years he has built up considerable expertise in Pharma/Life Sciences (particularly genetics and genomics,) manufacturing, marketing, IT, legal, banking, fashion and insurance.
James began his career as an Investment Surveyor with Jones Lang LaSalle, the international property consultants. In 1997 he joined the BBC and specialised in psychology/social science programmes as a radio producer on BBC Radio 4’s All in The Mind, Thinking Allowed and The Material World. In 2002 he moved to BBC Television and was one of the book researchers and producers on The Human Mind with Prof Lord Robert Winston, giving him a fascination of how the brain works. He also spent a year on the BBC’s Value for Money Change Management scheme and trained under the BBC award-winning Executive Coaching programme.

Leadership development, “Big 5” psychometrics, action learning, experiential learning, communication skills, resilience, courageous conversations, and team days. James has a fascination for the brain and the unconscious processes that deliver our sense of reality reinforcing our habits and behaviours He has spent the last 12 years teaching the art of public speaking to school children. He volunteers with the charity A Band Of Brothers which is dedicating to designing contemporary rite of passages weekends for young offenders and to then support them in a community. He is married, a devoted father and obsessed with Everton FC and outdoor swimming both of which leave him cold. Last year he swam outdoors without wetsuit at 3° C.
